South Manchester Solicitors Slater Heelis Collier Littler advised North Wales based nursing home operator Priory Care Limited on the acquisition of a number of nursing homes operating in North Wales and in Suffolk for an undisclosed sum.
The acquired businesses employ around 120 members of staff and have over 100 residents. The businesses were established over 10 years ago and are set to continue to grow under the helm of director of Priory Care, Dylan Southern, who has extensive experience in this area.
Corporate partner Jeremy Orrell led a team at Slater Heelis Collier Littler of Manchester including Kate Bouchier Commercial Property Partner, Peter Townsend Tax Partner, Gareth Brewerton Corporate Assistant, Louise Tobin Employment Associate and Sally Rawkins Corporate Trainee.
Thomas Guise Solicitors of Worcester, led by experienced care home legal practitioner, Wayne Thomas and whose team included Stuart Bailey, Thomas BartleySmith, Shelley Bonney and Geoff Ellis, acted for the Sellers. Funding was provided by Quercus Nursing Homes who were advised by Edinburgh based solicitors Anderson Strathern.
Jeremy Orrell remarked As a firm, we have extensive experience when it comes to dealing with care homes and domiciliary care businesses and companies. Not only do we understand and appreciate the nuances that are required for a sale or an acquisition, we also understand and appreciate the regulatory and employment issues that can arise in this industry area.
We have a dedicated team at Slater Heelis who act specifically for the care home and domiciliary care industry. Our expertise, however, does not end with just buying and selling. We advise clients on other issues that arise including registration, financing, regulatory including POVA matters, employment issues and ensuring our clients remain compliant under the National Minimum Care Standards and up to date on areas of law that effect them, including the changes proposed by the Social Care Bill, currently before Parliament. During 2007, our Care Law Initiative completed over 100m worth of deals and our employment team offered a dedicated 24 hour emergency help line for our Care Law clients.
